Shopify Plus B2B in 2026: What Every Plan Gets, What Stays Plus

Shopify's native B2B has run on Basic, Grow and Advanced since April 2, 2026. Plus still keeps unlimited catalogs, direct catalog assignment, partial payments and deposits. A Plus Partner's plan-by-plan read of what you get, where trade programs stall, and how big the implementation really is.

Shopify Plus B2B: what it is now, and why the Plus line moved

Shopify B2B no longer requires Shopify Plus. Since April 2, 2026, merchants on Basic, Grow and Advanced can sell wholesale with native B2B features. If you still think of B2B as Plus-only, that stopped being true this year. Plus still keeps unlimited catalogs, direct catalog assignment to companies and locations, partial payments and deposits.

Native B2B is a set of building blocks: companies, company locations, catalogs (which products and prices a buyer sees), payment terms of Net 7, 15, 30, 45, 60 or 90, or due on fulfillment, and a B2B checkout. That checkout only works with new customer accounts. Legacy accounts can't be used for B2B.

The real decision has two parts: which plan your pricing and payment model needs, and whether wholesale lives inside your DTC store or in a store of its own. Native, out of the box, is usually the right place to start. The granular specifics decide the rest. We cover both below.

Shopify B2B without Plus: what every plan includes and the 3-catalog cap

Basic, Grow and Advanced now get native B2B. The ceiling is catalogs. On non-Plus plans you can assign up to 3 active catalogs in total across all your B2B markets.

In buyer terms: at most three distinct customer-specific price sets across your whole wholesale program, not three per region. Without Plus you also can't assign a catalog directly to a company or company location, and partial payments and deposits are Plus-only.

The self-test we run on calls is two questions. How many pricing tiers do you run today? Do any accounts get negotiated, account-specific pricing? One prospect wanted pricing hidden until login, with tiers shown by how each account is tagged. Another needed special pricing for specific B2B buyers. Three tiers fits. Account-level pricing for dozens of accounts does not.

Discounts are no longer the hurdle they were. B2B discounts have been on by default for new and eligible existing B2B stores since June 23, 2026. If you need more pricing groups without the rest of Plus, apps can extend past the cap (see the onboarding gaps section below).

Shopify Plus B2B features, tagged by plan

This is what we could verify in Shopify's documentation and changelog as of October 2026. Where we couldn't confirm the plan, we say so.

All plans (Basic, Grow, Advanced, Plus)

  • Company profiles and company locations
  • B2B market catalogs: up to 3 active on Basic, Grow and Advanced, assigned through B2B markets
  • Payment terms: Net 7, 15, 30, 45, 60, 90 or due on fulfillment
  • ACH payments (US only)
  • Quantity rules, quantity price breaks and quick order lists

Plus only (not available on Basic, Grow or Advanced)

  • Unlimited catalogs
  • Direct catalog assignment to companies and locations
  • Partial payments and deposits, including payment requests per fulfillment
  • Fully customizable checkout
  • Main store plus 9 expansion stores in the platform fee

Available, plan not confirmed in our sources

  • Dynamic payment terms and EDI workflows, per Shopify's own Winter '26 Edition announcement
  • Pickup in store for wholesale buyers, available on request through Shopify Support and not on by default

On themes: Shopify's Horizon themes have been fully compatible with Shopify's B2B features since December 10, 2025.

On POS, we couldn't confirm official support for company catalog pricing. An unofficial forum post and a Plus-only third-party POS app suggest it may not be native, but neither one is Shopify documentation. Test it on your own store before you promise trade pricing at a counter.

Is Shopify Plus worth it for B2B?

Plus earns its cost when your wholesale model hits one of these triggers:

  • More than 3 catalogs, or catalogs assigned directly to companies and locations
  • Partial payments or deposits on large orders
  • A fully customizable checkout
  • Storefronts by region or audience: Plus includes the main store plus 9 expansion stores
  • ERP sync volume that needs higher API call limits

Plus starts at $2,300/month on a 3-year term or $2,500/month on a 1-year term. The variable platform fee differs between B2B and D2C orders, and our sources don't publish the rates. Get them from Shopify before you model margins.

Our rule of thumb: we typically recommend Plus for brands doing $5M+ a year, or for native B2B at scale, checkout customization or multiple storefronts. A typical Plus case is a tile manufacturer with a large wholesale business launching a DTC brand, with two-tier B2B and B2C pricing and custom freight quoting. That profile hits several triggers at once.

The case for staying put is just as clear. Three or fewer price tiers, no deposits and one storefront usually means no upgrade.

What doesn't Shopify B2B do? The onboarding gaps where projects stall

Start with what it does. Shopify has a native company account request form, and submitting it automatically creates a company, a company location and a customer. You review each request and approve or deny it. Intake and approval are covered.

The gap is the document and tax layer around approval: collecting resale certificates and licenses, tracking their expirations, and recording a tax-exempt decision per account. One brand opening its trade program to interior designers first needed sales certificates kept current for tax reasons. That layer is what we usually add on top of native B2B.

Projects stall in two other places. The first is customer accounts: B2B can't use legacy customer accounts. Legacy accounts were deprecated on February 26, 2026 and are no longer available to new stores or stores not already using them. Shopify has said it will announce a final sunset date for legacy accounts later in 2026. If you still run legacy accounts, that migration comes before B2B checkout works. The second is pricing groups: the 3-catalog cap on non-Plus plans is where many trade programs outgrow native. If you're deciding whether an app belongs in the stack at all, our guide to choosing between a Shopify wholesale app and native B2B compares the four paths: native alone, native plus an app, an app alone, or custom work.

For the document and tax gap, we built B2B Onboarding & Wholesale, our app for trade applications and approvals. It's ours. On any Shopify plan it adds an approval dashboard and unlimited pricing tiers for companies managed in the app (both from the $29 plan), a recorded tax-exempt decision on every approval, and buyer document management with expirations and renewals (on the $149 Plus plan). On stores using Shopify B2B, an approval can instead link the buyer to a native Shopify company, where pricing comes from Shopify catalogs. It extends native B2B rather than replacing it. Plans are $29, $69.95 and $149 per month, and the Awesome and Growth plans carry monthly B2B order-volume caps. The honest limits: collection-page pricing needs a Liquid snippet in the theme, and decision emails to applicants run through Klaviyo flows. It's one option, not the only one.

Quoting is the other gap worth naming. Quotes and RFQs come through apps, not natively, and trade buyers often assemble a job over weeks before they want a price. For that workflow we built B2B Wishlist Project Planner, our project-list and quote app: buyers keep lists by room or phase with quantities and share them, and on its $29 plan you convert a list into a draft order at your pricing or export it as a PDF quote. Pricing still comes from catalogs or the draft order, not the app.

Whatever you pick, keep the stack lean. Fewer apps touching pricing and accounts means fewer places for things to break.

Blended store vs separate wholesale store on Shopify

Shopify's own guidance says to make this choice carefully because it is hard to change later. We treat it as architecture, not a setting.

Blended: one storefront, with pricing by account after login. It fits brands whose trade buyers shop the same catalog as consumers: the prospect above who hides pricing until login, or a lighting company consolidating marketplace and direct sales into one branded store. On non-Plus plans, pricing depth is limited by the 3-catalog cap and no direct assignment.

Separate: a dedicated wholesale or expansion store. Plus includes the main store plus 9 expansion stores. Separation usually suits wholesale-first manufacturers adding DTC, with different catalogs, buyers and content: the tile manufacturer above, or a cookware brand with 1,600+ SKUs whose site had only ever worked as a dealer catalog.

Weigh the choice against these:

  • Inventory and catalog duplication
  • App subscriptions paid per store
  • Reporting split across storefronts
  • SEO overlap when stores show the same products

Shopify B2B API and ERP sync: what a CTO can automate

Companies, locations, catalogs and price lists are all objects an integration can read and write. One modelling rule to plan around: a company contact must exist before orders or draft orders can be created for that company.

Volume matters. Plus offers higher API call limits, which counts when an ERP pushes pricing and inventory at scale.

Scope the sync in business terms: companies and account pricing in, orders out, inventory and fulfillment back. We build these integrations with NetSuite and Dynamics 365. The pain they remove is concrete. One brand's customer service team was re-entering every order by hand as volume grew.

Shopify's Winter '26 announcement says EDI workflows now happen in Shopify B2B. That's a marketing source, so confirm coverage for your trading partners. For one-time loads, companies can be bulk-imported with the third-party Matrixify app. We haven't verified which API operations or rate limits differ by plan, or how deep any off-the-shelf NetSuite or Dynamics 365 connector goes. We scope those per project.

How long does it take to set up B2B on Shopify?

Shopify publishes no standard B2B setup time. The timeline comes from the workstreams:

  • Company and pricing migration, with bulk import as an option
  • Customer accounts migration if you are on legacy accounts
  • Theme pricing display (Shopify's Horizon themes are B2B-compatible)
  • Onboarding and approval flows
  • ERP integration

How we start: we book roughly a week to dig in and build migration scripts, then run a dry run and report findings before the full move.

The engagement follows the scope. A two-week Full Sprint ($14k) suits a contained migration piece, and sprints are booked by the week. A Conspire Build ($15K to $75K, 8 to 14 weeks) suits a blended store without heavy integration. For ERP, multi-store and account-level pricing, our Signature Builds for complex B2B and wholesale on Shopify cover tiered and account-level pricing, NetSuite and Dynamics 365 integrations, multiple storefronts and multi-location inventory. They start at $100k+ and run at least 12 to 14 weeks. Details are on our pricing page, and data-heavy moves are covered by our Shopify migration services.

Questions we get

Do discounts work for B2B buyers on Shopify now?

Yes, for most stores. B2B discounts have been on by default for new B2B stores and eligible existing stores since June 23, 2026.

How do wholesale buyers on net terms find and pay their invoices?

You set terms per account: Net 7, 15, 30, 45, 60, 90 or due on fulfillment. Shopify's Winter '26 announcement added ACH payments and dynamic payment terms. Finding the invoice is where buyers get stuck. Shopify natively emails draft order invoices and can send payment reminders through Flow. Our app B2B Draft Order Invoices, our open-invoices app for customer accounts (ours, and one option among several) adds an open-invoices list in legacy or new customer accounts, sends buyers to Shopify's own invoice checkout (the app doesn't process payments), sends automated reminders and accepts quote requests from the cart. It does not manage net terms or credit limits.

Can we bulk-import our existing wholesale accounts into Shopify B2B?

Yes, with the third-party Matrixify app. Each company needs a contact before orders can be created. When accounts and documents sit in another wholesale app, we start with a dry run.

Does Shopify Plus charge a different platform fee on B2B orders?

Yes. The variable fee differs for B2B and D2C orders. Our sources don't publish the rates, so ask Shopify. The base starts at $2,300/month on a 3-year term or $2,500/month on a 1-year term.

Can wholesale customers pick up orders in store?

Yes, on request. It is off by default and enabled through Shopify Support.

A team that owns B2B after launch

Once B2B becomes a real channel, someone has to own catalogs, pricing tiers, ERP mappings and onboarding flows long after launch. Our fractional Shopify team sits in your Slack and replaces the department instead of adding one more vendor. Most build clients stay on with us, many for six, seven, even ten years. Plans are tiered by revenue (see the Pricing page). Start with a conversation.
